Why did I chose my speech?
Why did I chose my speech?
Charles Chaplin is recognized for being one of the greatest actors and film producer in history, his movies are characterized for being silent film type, but one day, he made a speech against war, adopting the figure of one of the darkness and worst human being, Adolf Hitler. In this text I am going to give my reasons and arguments about why did I chose this speech.
To begin with, in my opinion, I think that I can interpret this speech, because, is a speech that is not too long, only 4 minutes or also less, that makes easier the memorization of this, also the pronunciation of the words is something that with some practice it can be well done, but something that is more difficult is the accent, remember that Charles Chaplin is from the United Kingdom, and try to imitate an accent of someone that is originary from the UK being a person that is more familiarized with the American accent, is going to be difficult, but no impossible. In addition another reason why I chose this speech is that, the first time I heard this was impacting and also, if someone that was in the WWII heard it, I think it would be a very big motivation to continue fighting with the hope of one day return to home
Futhermore, I chose this speech because I think that the words that were interpreted by Chaplin are a very big fact, saying that we are not machines that can be used for wars, that we have the power of create happiness but, due to greed the human beings have lost their humanity, that were more focused on create destruction. He gave a message of freedom for those who fight for the wrong causes, for those who with wars caused nothing more than pain and suffering to others, for those who were victims of a system that wanted them to act and think like machines, making them forget about their values and principles, a system that only need the people to their benefits and do not care about them. Chaplin wanted the people to fight for liberty and not for slavery, for a better and new world that a chance to work is a fact and security for all the ages, but mainly, a world where the people fight together against those who want to take advantage of them.
Finally, I think that this speech is one of the most accurate when we are talking about war, because Chaplin said that the people are not machines that can be used for fight for slavery, they have to fight for liberty and not against it. And something interesting that I find is that Charles Chaplin is better known for the silent film type, but, in "The Great Dictator" he appear giving one of the better speechs ever said.
